Distribution of the Certificates for the Successful Completion of the Nepal
Bauddha Pariyatti Students' Course

On the  13th of May, 2000,  the distribution of certificates  to the student who  the successfully completed the N.B.Pariyatti  Course was carried out by the  President of  the All  Nepal Bhikkhu Mahasangha,  Venerable Bhikkhu
Buddhaghosh  Mahathero. During the  ceremony, which was held  at the Central Control Board Office of N.B.Pariyatti Shiksha at Manimandapa Vihara, Lalitpur, the  chief  guest was  Mr.  Ram  Krishna Tamrakar,  the  Minister of  Industry,
Commerce, and Supply. The Minister highlighted the need for Pariyatti education for the genuine  all round  development of the  country as  a whole, to  establish a peaceful and civilized  society, as well as to uplift the living standard of
the people.
In the ceremony, Venerable  Bhikkhu Sheelabhadra
Mahathero, insisted on the importance of Pariyatti Shiksha. He
said it is very essential for every human being from childhood
throughout  the lifespan, to lead an ethical and moral life.  Since  there is  lack  of  Pariyatti education  in  society, there  is violence, civil strife,  and war. People are becoming more cruel. But people who study  Pariyatti  lead their lives  in peace and  harmony. Therefore, to spread this  education,  Akhil Nepal Bhikkhu Mahasangha  has established the Nepal Bauddha  Pariyatti Shiksha in different places  of Nepal. He also said that this education  should be broadcast from television and radio, and that other media  such  as magazines and  newspapers be used  to bring widespread education in this regard.

Venerable Bhikkhu  Sheelabhadra Mahathero  also said that people  must gain Pariyatti  education side  by  side with  academic  qualifications. Pariyatti education makes a person broadminded, moral, and wise. It will not allow
one to complain only about others but also teach a person how to look within herself or himself, how  to improve the person, and do things for humanity's welfare, thus also enhancing Buddhism.

Venerable Bhikkhu Dhammashovan Mahasthavir declared that  741 students from19 centers from  different places in Nepal had participated in the exam, and out  of them  21  students achieved  most  excellent results,  and  that 291
students were in the 1st division, 243 in the 2nd division, and that 86 were in  the 3rd  division. This  year Mrs. Reena Tuladhar  had secured the  2nd division  of Pariyatti Sadhhamma Kovida,  which is  the highest course  in Pariyatti  education at  present.  This  is a  three  year degree  course. In Saddhamma Palaka Upadhi 10 students passed in this year.

His Excellency, the Ambassador of Sri Lanka, stated that proper guidance for children would  foster them to  become good citizens for  tomorrow, and that the Nepal Bauddha  Pariyati Shiksha has rendered a great service by teaching
Dhamma and cultivating good moral behaviour for the children.

His  Excellency, the  Ambassador of  Myanmar, said  that the Nepal  Bauddha Pariyatti Shiksha  has organized the Nepalese students  to learn and to teach the basic of  Theravada Buddhist literature in Nepal since 1966, and it has
inferred the  certificate upon 30,000 students  since then. He also narrated how His Majesty and His Majesty's Government have encouraged the promotion of the Buddhasasana in Nepal. On this occasion, the Mayor of Lalitpur was also present. Mayor Buddhi Raj Bajracharya declared that his municipal government would offer NC 10,000  Rupees per year to assist the Nepal Bauddha Pariyatti Shiksha. He started this kind allocation of funds last year.

The  Secretary  of  Akhil  Nepal  Bhikkhu Association,  Venerable  Bhikkhu Jnanapurnik Mahathero, has explained the Three Steps of Buddha's teaching as Pariyatti, Patipatti and Pativedha, to know Lord Buddha's teaching well. One
has to  start from Pariyatti first.  Venerable Bhikkhu Chandragupta Sthavir thanked  all the  gathering and  offered best  wishes to  all. At last,  the chair person of   the  function  ended  the   gathering  stating  the  need  of
contribution by all toward the upliftment of Buddhism in Nepal.

The Central Office of Nepal Bauddha Pariyatti Shiksha is very much delighted to announce today, 16/12/00, that a solemn ceremony was held for Dhamma Dana. The Central Office of Nepal Bauddha Pariyatti Shiksha expresses its grateful thanks to Venerable Sudharshan Mahathero, the Chief Abbot of Srikirti Vihara, Kirtipur for the most charitable and gracious act of "Dhamma Dana" of a cash donation amounting to Rs. 50,000 (Fifty Thousand Nepalese Rupees) dedicated to the 'Nibbanan' of late Ven.
