Remorse
By Roscoe Rajbhandari
Yet another
day.
The sun sinks slowly,
Pulling down the shutter
For today
I stand at window
Elated,
Excited,
Eager,
The busy street,
The hustle bustle,
Displaying my mood
I wait…….
Impatient
Desperate
My eyes brighten
heart leaps
Smile reaches for my ears !
I dash downstairs
Hopeful………
Happy…….
All smiles…..
I escort him
Eager,
Impatient.,
I promised myself
Today would be the day !
I shoot
Can we go for holiday
This weekend….?!
Pregnant silence
Emptiness,
The TV grins sarcastically,
His fingers dance on the remote control,
The wall clock mock my insecurities,
Impatient……
“ can we” ?
he frowns oddly.
I have a meeting tomorrow !
My smile disappears.
My heart feels heavy.
My vision blurs with tears.
I wait, yet hopeful……
For an explanation,
Or perhaps
A change of mind.
Pregnant silence
Greets me farewell
Rigid, stiffs
I walk back
To imprisonment
I seek solace in my pillow
Just another anniversary
In vain. I console myself
Maybe next year. ! ?
I stroll back to the window
My only access to outer world
The street now dead.
Resembling the fountain
Of joy within me.
Which a moment before
Bubbled and
danced.
